UCD Marian Make a Statement as Isaiah Taylor Stars in his Debut Against Neptune
UCD Marian vs Neptune | Super League | U.C.D Belfield | 3/10/26 |
A debut to remember from Isaiah Taylor, who finished with 30 points, 3 assists and 6 steals, powered UCD Marian to a commanding lead over Neptune in the opening game that never lacked intensity.
First Quarter
Isaiah made his presence felt early, getting on the scoresheet off a steal in his first match in a UCD jersey. UCD went on a 7-0 run, but Neptune responded by hitting a deep three. Neptune's number 23, Kendell Taylor then took over, getting to the basket with ease using a unguardable spin move. The quarter ended tight, with UCD ahead 26-24.
Second Quarter
The second quarter belonged to UCD. Cian Tiernan set the tone defensively with a strong block on Taylor, and then Isaiah struck again, stealing the ball and feeding Tanner Graham for 'an and-one layup'. On the very next possession, Isaiah completed a four-point play. That sequence sparked a 20-2 run, and UCD went into the half 61-41 ahead.
Third Quarter
During the third quarter Neptune switched to a zone defence, and the game became scrappier. This change seemed to work as UCD lost their rhythm with a series of turnovers and fouls. Isaiah Taylor got into foul trouble mid-way through the third quarter and had to leave the game. Neptune took advantage and mounted a comeback, cutting the deficit. UCD only led by 10, 76-67, heading into the final quarter. Unfortunately, Eoin Nelson was injured after a layup attempt and had to leave the court.
Fourth Quarter
The fourth quarter started out close. With 5:40 left, Kendell Taylor took a charge to keep Neptune in the contest. But UCD managed to pull away, going on a run. With 2:14 on the clock, Isaiah hit a big three-pointer to give UCD a 14-point lead. Despite Neptune's best efforts the game finished 105-93 to UCD.
