Dear Friends of UCD Marian,
The Club is writing to invite you to enrol as a UCD Marian Super League Patron. Basketball plays a positive role in many families,
and we would be very grateful if you would consider joining on an ongoing or one-off basis.
Our Super League team is the flagship of our Club. It’s an aggregation of the very best players, many of whom are home-grown
from within our underage teams, which is a position quite different to most other competing teams. As an important example to
our underage teams it provides a focus, an example of skills to emulate and an exciting team to support. Other benefits to the
Club include:
- The ability to have an elite, international, professional coach such as Ioannis in the Club who, as coaching director, helps
develop our underage coaches with focused training plans.
- Each underage team being ‘adopted’ by a nominated Super League player who is responsible for input into and
monitoring of underage coaching for that team.
- Integrating UCD scholarship students and professional players into the Club and utilising our professionals to coach in
local schools and get involved in the Club’s adopt-a-team programme.
Running the Super League programme is expensive and requires significant fundraising support. The benefits for the wider Club
including underage teams make it a worthwhile endeavour. A voluntary committee organises the myriad operations and logistics
for the team including its involvement with our underage teams.
The wider Club is non-profit and requires help from more than 50 active volunteers to run a wide range of Club and college teams,
giving a collective 2,400 hours per year. Completely understandably, not every parent or guardian has the time to volunteer for
roles in UCD Marian. We hope that this scheme gives our supporters an opportunity to give back in their own way.

• Enrolment on our virtual Patrons Wall on ucdmarian.com and inclusion in our Patrons list in home game programmes

We ask our Patrons to make a minimum contribution of €500 per year. Alternatively, we recognise that some friends of the Club
might wish to contribute as a Club friend a lower amount and we would be very grateful for all help.
