10th December 2020
Part of the club’s focus is to try and help people both on and off the court.
In recent years we have supported the annual Christmas Day Dinner in the RDS. The event provides 3,000 meals annually to the poor and homeless around Dublin City.
This year the event isn’t able to happen in the RDS but the organisers will be providing take away meals from the Mansion House in town. The meals are collected and delivered to homes by charities such as St Vincent de Paul, Alone, Age Action, Simon and the Peter McVerry Trust.
Since 2017 the fundraiser has taken part at our last Super League home game before Christmas. Last year the game against Tralee raised 1,250 euro for the wonderful cause. This year we, unfortunately, don’t have any games to fundraise at so we have moved our efforts online with a Go Fund Me Page. Our target over the coming week is to raise 1500 euro. 2020 hasn’t been the year many of us would have wanted, but it’s worth remembering that there are people worse off, that need all the support they can get. Hopefully, as a club, we can say goodbye to 2020 with something positive and then look forward to a bright new year in 2021.
