UCD lose to Moycullen and drop to 2-5 The disappointing start to this years league campaign has left the team three games out of the playoff sports after just seven games. Fortunes seemed to be changing recently with an excellent victory against Killester who were unbeaten at the time. Daniel James led the way in that game with 20 points and was ably assisted by Luke McCrone. It was the teams defence though that set the mark and a lot of positives were brought into the away game with Hoops. The Hoops game was often scrappy with Marian finding the Arena rings difficult. Luke McCrone and Neil Baynes contained Hoops huge inside force Carlton Aaron and behind the hot shooting of Michael Higgins off the bench UCD pulled away to a 9 point victory. Having won 2 ina row confidence was high, perhaps a little too high, and Marian struggled throughout against a tough Moycullen team backed a by a large home crowd. Despite scoring well the teams defence was at its worst for the year and Moycullen were able to stay with them throughout. A heartbreaking three pointer on the buzzer added to Marians misery as they faced the long drive home. The team has no game this weekend and there is two weeks untill the big game against UU Elks in the National Cup. Elks feature three former Marian players and UCD scholarship holders and so it should eb a tightly fought contest. The UCD Marian Christmas party will also be held on the 5th with more details coming soon. |

For all incoming college students we are currently trying to develop a UCD intramural league which will enable as many people to play basketball within the college as possible. Hopefully details of this program will be finalised in the coming days. |
