Division Four Team 2008/2009

Latest News:

Well done to all on last nights performance against Lithuanian BC in St
Michaels. We had an excellent turnout with 12 players togged out and
Alan(injured) took the coaching duties.A flat performance in the first qtr
saw them scoring freely from beyond the arc-Konsdant(15) had 3 3pointers
while Szicus(12) picked up 10 easy points from offensive boards and baseline
jumpers. Despite an all action performance from Helmut(4pts) and
Cormac(4pts) we trailed 11 to 25 at the break.

Defensive changes in the second qtr slowed their scoring down and three
baskets from Paul Byrne left the half time deficit at 18 points. A much
improved offence with 6 pts from helmut and a three pointer from Paul still
left a 19 point deficit going into the final qtr. The whole team dug deep to
close the gap to single figures but a couple of misses and solid free throw
shooting on their part left the score at 59-70 at the final whistle.

Helmut Dimmel was mvp with an all round performance including 17 points, 10
rebounds and 5 assists( and 5 fouls).Liam had 10, Paul had 9, Cormac 8 and 8
players scored. Most of all we fought back and showed some good spirit in
the second half, despite missing a lot of shots in the first half.

Well done everybody. Our next game is against Portmarnock away on Thursday
19th February at 8.30pm in Portmarnock Sports and Leisure Centre.

This years Division 4 team coached by Liam Lavelle features a good blend of new players and some of our more experienced players. Alan Fearon has managed to recover from last years achilles tendon rupture to lead the team in scoring so far this season. Another former superleague player and current superleague coach Cormac Connor leads the drive inside. The team features a mix of last years division 3 and 4 teams and has had a strong start to this years campaign. Sitting in third place the team have lost three times this season and are currently on pace to reach the Dublin top fours. Two of the team also play for our U20s who recently won the national cup.

The D4 team were recently knocked out of the Dublin Cup by a Division 3 team after good wins in the early rounds. With excellent play from Chris and Helmut hopefully the team can push on for honours in the Dublin League.

The next game is this Friday the 30th away to league leaders St. Vincents who feature a strong core including former international Karl Donnelly.
